Work completed on £6m student accomdation in York city centre
Work has been completed on a £6m student accommodation development on Lawrence Street in York.
The 115-bed student block located between the city centre and the University of York is a mix of studios and flats with one, two, three and five bedrooms, as well as communal facilities.
Work was carried out by Robertson Yorkshire & East Midlands on two listed buildings, the former St Lawrence Working Men’s Club and the adjacent Tam O’Shanter public house, as well as a new wing that was purpose-built for the new accommodation on behalf of Harrison Developments.
The listed building had previously been empty for a period of years and had fallen into disrepair.
The work carried out by Robertson Yorkshire & East Midlands included helping to return the frontage on Lawrence Street to its former glory.
Paul Turner, managing director of Robertson Yorkshire & East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to deliver a greatly-needed high-specification development that will benefit the students of the University of York.
“In recent years, the campus has grown significantly, and this new facility will ensure that the University has vital accommodation for new and existing students.”
