£2.5m inflatable theme park set to create 100 jobs in Newcastle
Indoor leisure business the Fun Shack Group is continuing to grow its entertainment offering across the region, revealing plans to open the North East’s first inflatable theme park next year.
The company, which owns trampoline attraction Jump 360, says the new site will be the biggest permanent indoor inflatable theme park in the UK.
Set to have a space theme, visitors can expect to enjoy sliding down extreme rocket drop slides, bouncing on giant inflatable planets, suiting up in inflatable sumo wrestling rings, taking on the challenge on the gladiator podium with battle sticks and more.
The 35,000 square foot park is set to open in February 2018 and is part of a £2.5m development which will transform a large, empty warehouse in the east end of Newcastle into a giant indoor adventure park. Alongside InflataSpace, the site will boast a Clip N Climb climbing centre and a Fun Shack children’s indoor playcentre.
The complex will be located within the Benfield Business Park, directly next to the Walkergate Metro station. The management team hope it will create 100 jobs for the North East with recruitment opening soon for a range of roles including front of house, catering and management positions.
Stuart Freeman, director at Jump 360, commented: “We are extremely excited to bring the first inflatable theme park to the North East, it is only the second in the county and completely different to our other experiences. We’ve had a blast planning all of the activities, it really is going to be out of this world.”
The Fun Shack group, which is currently comprised of Fun Shack, Jump 360 and Clip N Climb centres, is owned by brothers Craig and Stuart, alongside their wifes Andrea and Georgette.
The group currently employs over 150 people across the company, all based in the North East with the addition of the new Benfield site bringing this total to almost 250.
Stuart added: “The success of our Jump 360 trampoline parks in Newcastle, Stockton and Hartlepool has been fantastic and we can’t wait to welcome visitors along to enjoy a whole new experience at InflataSpace.”
