Manchester auctioneers expand into Derbyshire following record turnover
Valuer and auctioneer business Charterfields has expanded into Derbyshire after achieving a 15% increase in turnover.
The Manchester-headquartered firm was able to launch an office in Buxton on the back of its turnover breaking the £2m barrier in 2017.
Charterfields, which undertakes valuations for corporate clients and disposes of property and business assets, was originally based in Sheffield but recently moved its HQ to Manchester, where it doubled its office space.
The company retained a presence in Yorkshire and also has a London office.
In the last 12 months Charterfields held its biggest ever auction when its sold the contents of Wembley’s Fountain Studios, where the X Factor and other TV shows are made.
Ian Maycock, who heads up the firm’s Manchester operation, said: “All our staff have been busy throughout 2017 as buoyant demand for commercial property and plant is encouraging landlords and lenders to dispose of underperforming assets.
“Meanwhile we have seen a big increase in requests for valuations. In part this is driven by changes in the insurance market, but it also seems that big companies are taking better care of their assets and want the reassurance of up-to-date valuations.”
He continued: “The UK remains a world leader in valuations and the Charterfields team is one of the most experienced in the industry. In 2018 we will continue to strengthen our presence in the regions while building our profile in the international arena.”
