Manchester’s Sports Tours International scores £60m deal with Lanzarote resort
Tour operator Sports Tours International has secured a new multi-million pound contract with Club La Santa, a sports and active holiday resort in Lanzarote.
The deal, worth £60m, will see the Manchester-based company remain the Danish-owned resort’s sales agent in the UK and Ireland for a further eight years.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two organisations that spans more than three decades.
Sports Tours International sells nearly 35k room nights annually at Club La Santa, sending over 15k people from the UK and Ireland there on holiday there each year.
The resort is based on the island’s North West coast and features 10 tennis courts, a 400m running track, watersports lagoon and three open air 50m pools, among other facilities.
Sports Tours International chief exec Chris Bird said: “Club La Santa is a fitness holiday phenomenon, it is the only resort where elite athletes and active holiday makers enjoy their chosen sport side by side.
“It was the first and remains the best. We’re extremely proud to have represented them in the UK and Ireland for over three decades.”
He continued: “Club La Santa is part of the fabric of Sport Tours International, and many of our customers visit the resort as part of their training programme. As Sports Tours International enters its 45th year of trading, this news marks the start of another exciting year for us.”
Niels Nygaard, chairman of Club La Santa, commented: “We are delighted to secure a long term relationship with Sports Tours International.
“Both Fred Done and his team are valued partners and great ambassadors for our resort.”
