Lawyers’ winter ball raises £1,740 For Yorkshire-based domestic abuse charity

A winter ball staged by West and North Yorkshire regional Resolution committees has raised £1,740 for a Harrogate-based domestic abuse charity.

The event, held at Marriott Hotel in Leeds and attended by the National Chair of Resolution, together with more than 160 family law practitioners, their clients and contacts, was in support of Independent Domestic Abuse Services.

Resolution is an association of family law professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way. The regional committees arrange a number of academic and social events throughout the year.

Stowe Family Law lawyer, Cheryl Grace - the current Chair of the Young Resolution Committee - said: “The winter event was, as it had been the previous year, the highlight of the annual calendar.

“Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, live music and lots of dancing. It was a great opportunity for networking and more informal socialising.

“The committees are delighted to have raised, through the event, £1,740 in donations for IDAS, a domestic abuse charity which supports victims across Yorkshire.”

Becky Bonner from event sponsor The Private Office said: “It was a privilege for TPO to be a part of such a wonderful event. The evening was really fun and hopefully raised lots of money for a very worthwhile cause.”

Claudia Gilham, last year’s Chair of the Young Resolution committee, said: “Supporting charities such as IDAS, who make a significant impact to families in our communities, has become a central part of the winter event.

“IDAS works tirelessly to support victims of domestic abuse providing refuge, advocacy, support and children’s services so they were an ideal charity for us to raise funds for.

“I would also like to thank The Marriott, Park Lane Plowden Chambers, Bettys and Collaborative Family Law North who kindly donated raffle prizes and helped us to raise £1,740.”

Attendees from London chambers 4PB commented that “It truly was a brilliant evening, full of fun and festivities. We wish to pass on our gratitude for the hospitality shown, we were warmly welcomed by all and it was great to put so many faces to voices”.
