Blooming marvellous giveaway to take place in Edgware to commemorate WW1 anniversary

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware is hosting a special flower giveaway event in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

Throughout the weekend, the community-focused shopping centre will not only be giving away free posies of flowers to shoppers who spend over £15* but, for every posy they hand out they will also donate up to 50,000 poppy seeds to local organisations who are looking to brighten up their community space ahead of Remembrance Day.

The flower giveaway event will take place between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday outside Costa Coffee within The Broadwalk Centre.

Angela Brooks, Centre Manager of The Broadwalk Centre, commented: “We wanted to do something unique in the community to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. Whilst the flower giveaway element of our event is just a nice way for us to say thank you to our loyal shoppers, our main focus is donating the poppy seeds to local organisations. We believe that, as the poppies grow throughout the year, they will act as lovely symbol of remembrance for local residents.”

Organisations that would like to receive the poppy seeds after the event should register their interest by emailing thebroadwalkcentre@pmwcom.co.uk or writing to The Broadwalk Centre’s Poppy Campaign, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex RH14 9HP. The deadline for submissions is Sunday 18th March 2018.
