TRURO ENJOYS £2.5M INVESTMENT BOOST
People living in Cornwall’s county town are set to benefit from more than £2.5million of infrastructure investment, thanks to a development of new family homes. Truro will gain from substantial investment in education, public transport, public open space, environmental projects and highways, thanks in part to contributions being made by developer Persimmon Homes Cornwall. Construction of the 306-home Copperfields development close to Arch Hill will generate £2,559,064 in inward investment and contributions. In addition, the Home Builders’ Federation estimates 4.3 jobs are created for every new home built, both directly in the construction industry and through the supply chain, which is also a support to the local economy. Daniel Heathcote, director in charge, Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said: “As a responsible builder, whenever we start working within a community, we look at ways to support local people and infrastructure. “These Section 106 contributions are connected with the planning permission and, in the case Copperfields, this will contribute a significant amount of funding to improve and enhance local life and the environment. “We are also pleased to be creating jobs in construction and the supply chain which brings a boost to Truro’s economy and Cornwall overall.” Jane Cartwright, sales manager for Persimmon Homes Cornwall, added: “At Copperfields we are creating a range of attractive two, three and four-bedroom houses, with a number of special offers and buying incentives ensuring that this development offers perfect homes for local people at the right price.” The Government’s Help to Buy equity loan offer which allows customers to secure a home with just a five per cent deposit is available on the development and those with existing properties to sell can access Persimmon’s Home Change or Part Exchange assisted moving schemes. *
