Funding boost for 1st Falkirk Scouts
1st Falkirk Scout Group has received a welcome fundraising boost after being chosen to receive a £500 donation from Persimmon Homes East Scotland.
The funds donated will pay for vital repairs and building maintenance work on the group’s scout hall based at Pleasance Gardens in Falkirk.
Tony Denny, scout leader for the 1st Falkirk Scout Group, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Persimmon. The money will make the much-needed upgrades to our toilet block possible.” “Our current scout hall opened in 1991 and although improvements have been made over the years our toilet facilities haven’t been upgraded. Making them accessible for our Cubs, Beavers, Scouts and Explorers is the next step in our ongoing maintenance of our hall.”
The Club, founded in 1908, has over 140 members that use the scout hall throughout the week.
The cash injection from Persimmon Homes is made from the company’s Community Champions scheme, which has donated over £2 million to groups, clubs and charities since it began in 2015. Jim Kirkpatrick, managing director at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said the scheme was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company builds new homes.
He said: “Persimmon are pleased to make this donation to 1st Falkirk Scout Group. We wish to play our part in supporting the upkeep of this much-needed facility for local young people.”
The Persimmon Community Champions scheme is a national programme where clubs, groups and good causes can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
Jim continued: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re now urging people to apply for next month’s allocation by completing a form via the Persimmon Homes website.
Persimmon Homes East Scotland is currently building a range new homes at two sites less than 10 minutes from the Scout Group’s headquarters. Carron Park, Cotland Road offers a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes and the much anticipated new Thornhill Wynd development at Etna Road is expected to launch a range of 2-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses in October 2018.
