Huddersfield tech firm expands 'money-saving' services overseas into Australia
Technology firm, yboo is aiming to launch its SIM Only deal comparison app in Australia in 2019 as its plans for global expansion continue.
The company, founded in 2016 by Martyn Gould and Paul Doyle, is building a team in Australia in conjunction with the Department of International Trade, and are currently assessing the market with an anticipated launch of early 2019.
yboo is an app which aims to prevent mobile phone users in the UK from overpaying by monitoring the consumer’s usage and suggesting the best SIM Only deals for them.
Martyn Gould, yboo’s founder, commented on the expansion plans, said: “We’re building the value and reach of yboo as we take our unique offering to hundreds of millions of consumers across the globe.
“So far, the expansion has gone really smooth, and the DIT have been particularly supportive.”
The company has identified Australia as a potential opportunity because of its ‘unique’ geography, which causes a lot of issues with mobile coverage due to the sheer bulk and scarcity of the land.
Martyn added: “We’ve always been determined to solve problems for the 60million consumers in the UK and the hundreds of millions of consumers all over the world.
“There is little competition in the Australian marketplace which means that consumers overpay for mobile services by hundreds of dollars every year.
“We are empowering consumers to make the decision to expand in Australia for us - which is a pretty unique approach.”
