Jobs growth at Newcastle firm behind workplace safety app NotifyIt

A North Tyneside software company founded just 12 months ago has revealed plans to create jobs.

Notify Technology, based at Newcastle’s Cobalt Business Exchange, will hire five new staff to ramp up sales efforts as part of a three-year growth plan.

The company has created what it says is the world’s first ‘free forever’ health and safety near-miss app. Its aim is to help clients lower risk and make workplaces safer.

Notify’s goal is to have 2.2 million individual users of the app, called NotifyIt, by 2020. The software is already used in 48 countries.

Earlier this year, the firm appointed Liz Alexander as head of finance and Liam Black, who completed an apprenticeship with Notify, as a junior support developer.

Notify is led by CEO Duncan Davies and chief product officer and co-founder Andy Dumbell.

Duncan said: “We use digital technology in so many areas of our personal and working lives, yet Health and Safety was an area that felt way behind.

“It seemed obvious that we should use our expertise in mobile, data and Internet of Things to develop a platform that will make going to work safer for everyday people, helping to cut accidents and reduce risk for organisations around the world.”

He continued: “It’s really inspiring to see so many businesses embrace our technology, despite Notify being only 12 months old, and I’m thrilled to welcome our new starters to the team, as each will play a huge part in making the Notify #SafetyRevolution a reality.”
