Shadow Brexit Secretary to brief North East business leaders on final deal
Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer is preparing to brief key North East figures on the implications of the Government’s Brexit deal for the region.
The Shadow Brexit Secretary will address an audience of business leaders, politicians and other regional stakeholders at the Sage in Gateshead tomorrow (November 16) – just as Whitehall’s final Brexit deal reaches a conclusion.
Sir Kier will discuss the Brexit negotiations in detail, weigh the potential impact the final deal could have on the economy of the North East and offer Labour’s response to the proposals.
BBC regional political editor Richard Moss will chair the North East Economic Forum (NEEF) event, which has been supported by, among others, Newcastle Airport and the North East LEP.
NEEF director Alan Donnelly, ex Member of the European Parliament for the North East, said: “At such a crucial time for the North East economy, I am pleased that Keir has agreed to address key regional stakeholders on the implications of the Government’s deal for our region.
“It is also important to know what the Labour Party’s response will be to the Brexit negotiations and how the Government’s deal will be received from parliamentarians across the political spectrum.”
