Newcastle procurement company seeks US expansion after doubling workforce
Newcastle procurement company Bloom is looking to expand its foothold in the US after doubling the size of its workforce.
The company has created around 30 jobs so far this year and now employs a team of 60 at Rotterdam House on the Quayside.
Bloom is joining a North East business delegation to Boston this week (December 4), where it will explore new business opportunities in the American market.
Co-founder Adam Jacobs said: “During the mission I would like to meet with potential pilot customers in the US and explore opportunities to expand our ecommerce capability.”
Founded in 2012, Bloom sources professional services providers for public sector projects with authorities including Durham County Council and Newcastle City Council.
North East-based companies have delivered more than 150 projects worth over £15m since 2016, with 70% of projects awarded to SMEs.
James Ramsbotham, chief executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce, is leading the Boston visit. He said: “These trips, organised in conjunction with the Department for International Trade reap tremendous rewards for our businesses.
“They are given opportunities to increase their international trade and make invaluable connections which would be difficult to create from the UK alone.”
James added: “When we arranged the first mission five years ago we knew there would be great synergy between our region and the Boston business network and it has paid off handsomely.”
