Barratt Homes supports local construction students with book donation to Selby College
Five-star housebuilder, Barratt Homes, is encouraging local construction students at Selby College to write the next chapter of housebuilding by donating a selection of educational books.
The initiative is in association with Barratt’s Barley Fields development, located in nearby Barlby and a short drive away from the college. The development’s Sales Adviser, Sarah Crawford, was present to hand over the books to the students, who appreciatively accepted.
Over £250 worth of educational books were donated by the housebuilder, for use by Level 3 construction students, to develop their existing knowledge base and develop their overall skill-set.
Barratt Homes is committed to supporting the communities in which it builds, and is dedicated to helping improve the future of the construction industry through activities and donations such as this.
Sarah Crawford, Sales Adviser at Barley Fields, commented: “We’re keen to encourage more young people into construction, which can be a very longstanding and rewarding career. With Selby College so close to Barley Fields, we thought this was a brilliant opportunity to engage with the local students and hopefully inspire them to study hard. We look forward to hearing the success stories from Selby College and who knows, one day these students could become part of Barratt Homes’ construction team!”
Jacqui Goulden, Lecturer in Construction at Selby College, said: “We’re thrilled to have support from Barratt Homes; the book donation was a very thoughtful gesture and will help ensure our construction students have access to books that they rely on for their studies. We will absolutely make use of the books for years to come.”
