YORKSHIRE GIN PRODUCER CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY
Award-winning Yorkshire Wolds gin producer Raisthorpe Manor Fine Foods is celebrating its 10th anniversary and says innovation is the key to the business’ success.
Founder Julia Medforth started the Wharram-based business on her farmhouse kitchen table after her homemade Raspberry Gin Liqueur made from an old family recipe proved a hit with shoot guests.
From these modest beginnings the company has enjoyed considerable national success, winning 13 Great Taste Awards and now supplies independent retailers and the hospitality sector nationwide, as well as selling online.
Raisthorpe opened its second retail outlet at the White Rose Centre over the summer, following a successful first year at the York Designer Outlet.
Following the company’s successful growth, Julia and her hand-picked team still produce artisan gins, vodkas, whiskies and ports on the farm deep in picturesque Hockney country.
Says Julia Medforth: “We’re proud to be Yorkshire born and bred and for our business to be based in the county. We’ve seen some huge changes in the gin market over the last ten years and it continues to see massive growth, but we’re not ones to rest on our laurels. It’s only by innovating that we stay one step ahead of our competitors so we’re constantly introducing new flavourful botanicals, as well as ways in which people can enjoy our spirits.
“Just recently we launched a range of Yorkshire Tonics – enabling gin lovers to enjoy an all-Yorkshire G&T – having identified a gap in the market for a premium aromatic mixer with Yorkshire provenance.”
Other new Raisthorpe products this year have included Tipsy Drinks Cards, a card incorporating a miniature gift of spirits, and 20 cl Stacker bottles that are perfect for gifting.
Products are made using only the finest ingredients, locally sourced where possible. Flavours include Oak Aged Dry Gin, Elderflower, Rhubarb, Rose, Violet, Sloe, Damson and Gooseberry Gin Liqueurs and 9ct Shimmering Toffee Caramel or 9ct Blood Orange Vodka Liqueurs - perfect for cocktails.
