University College Hospital Accredited for Excellence in Healthcare Provision
HCA Healthcare UK at University College Hospital has recently received the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP). This award recognises the hospital’s commitment to providing outstanding treatment to myeloma patients, and helping to make improvements in the wider healthcare community.
Myeloma is a complex disease and requires a team of highly skilled specialists to treat and manage it, as well as its associated conditions and effects of treatment. HCA UK at UCH is one of the few private centres that can provide this specialist care, as well as being a specialist centre for amyloidosis a rare non-cancerous condition closely related to myeloma.
The HCA UK at UCH myeloma service is structured around the understanding of a diagnosis, or potential diagnosis, of myeloma and the significant health impact for patients. The multi-disciplinary team of expert consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and supportive therapists are dedicated to supporting both the physical and holistic health needs of these patients, including emotional wellbeing, and delivering diagnosis and treatment in a timely, reassuring manner.
The team’s commitment to safe and effective care is consistently reflected in their quality outcomes, highlighted in its ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission, and its status as a JACIE accredited bone marrow and stem cell transplant centre.
Claire Smith, CEO of HCA UK at UCH, said: “At HCA UK at UCH, the patient is at the heart of everything we do. Receiving this accreditation is a wonderful achievement for the dedicated multidisciplinary team, whose drive and commitment ensure patients always receive the best possible care. I am incredibly proud of the team and I am delighted that the care they provide has received this recognition from Myeloma UK.”
Suzanne Renwick, Healthcare Professional Projects Manager, Myeloma UK, said “Being presented with the Myeloma UK CSEP Accreditation is a considerable achievement and shows that HCA UK at UCH is dedicated to providing excellent treatment and care. The Myeloma UK CSEP accreditation demonstrates the gold standard of myeloma care.”
