Tutoring platform makes the grade with £2m investment
London-based tutoring platform Tutor House has secured £2m in investment funding from venture capital firm Fuel Ventures.
Founded by former teacher Alex Dyer in 2012, Tutor House specialises in connecting parents and families with qualified tutors both online and offline.
The company to use the funds to expand into new international markets, as well as establish a bespoke school in London providing intensive tutoring for students who need to retake exams.
Tutor House founder Alex Dyer said: “We’re on a mission to change the way students and parents find trusted and qualified tutors.
“We want to return autonomy to tutors, tutees, and families, to make tutoring affordable for, and accessible to, the people that need it the most. That’s not a big ask, and we’re well on our way to making that happen.”
The investment is the latest for London-based firm Fuel Ventures, which specialises in providing seed funding to early stage technology companies with global ambitions.
Mark Pearson, founder of Fuel Ventures, added: “This is an exciting time for Fuel Ventures and its start-ups, and Tutor House is a great business that has already achieved an impressive level of growth since 2012.
“They are the UK’s market leader and are making plans for further expansion into countries outside of the UK, following this investment… we look forward to following their development and progress in the coming months.”
