High street retailer Select goes into administration
High street womenswear retailer Select has entered into administration, putting 1,800 jobs at risk.
With 169 stores across the UK, the firm is continuing to trade until a buyer can be found.
Andrew Andronikou, joint administrator at Quantuma, commented: “Options include a sale of the business as a going concern, in addition to entering into discussions with those parties who have already expressed interest in acquiring the business.
“We will continue to trade Select whilst we assess all options available to the business, with the aim of achieving the optimum outcome for all stakeholders.”
The news comes less than a month after department store chain Debenhams announced it has entered into administration following unsuccessful negotiations with retail magnate Mike Ashley.
