Bannatyne Ingleby Barwick staff walk seven million steps for charity

Staff at Bannatyne Health Club at Ingleby Barwick have ‘Walked All Over Cancer’ by taking more than seven million steps to raise £1,200 for charity.

Twenty-three staff each completed the challenge to walk 10,000 steps every day for a month to generate cash for Cancer Research UK.

A step class, involving the employees, was organised to raise awareness of their charity challenge.

For the rest of the 31 days, a step box was placed in the reception area, where staff on duty could take turns to boost their step count.

Those taking part received a lot of support, including family members and pet dogs joining them on walks outside of work.

Their efforts have raised more than £1,290 for the charity, which is dedicated to preventing, controlling and curing cancer through ground-breaking research and in the last 40 years its work has helped double survival rates.

Tom Carter, General Manager at Bannatyne Ingleby Barwick, said: “Our staff are to be congratulated for the fantastic effort they put into raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

“They chose this particular charity as cancer is a disease that touches the lives of so many people.”

Facilities at the Ingleby Barwick club, where the focus is on fitness, health and wellbeing, include a heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and spa pool, a well-equipped gym, a range of exercise class to suit different abilities, a luxury spa with single and dual treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations and a relaxation room and a licensed café bar.
