Energy Assets Kicks-off Fundraising Match for CCLASP

Employees at Energy Assets in Livingston and Alva are teaming up for a special football match to raise money for a local charity dedicated to supporting children and families affected by cancer.

The goal for the event, which kicks off at the Indodrill Stadium, Alloa Athletic FC on Friday June 28, is to net more than £2,000 for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP). CCLASP provides free hospital transport, holidays, trips and a helping hand for the families of children in Scotland undergoing cancer treatment.

Event organiser Scott Thomson, a Project Coordinator at Energy Assets, had personal experience of the vital support provided by CCLASP when his brother Duncan, who also works at Energy Assets, was diagnosed with childhood leukaemia. Both will be part of the Livingston office team taking on colleagues from the company’s Alva office.

“Our family has seen at first hand the wonderful work the charity does to help families through difficult times,” said Scott. “With the support of Energy Assets and our colleagues, we aim to raise over £2,000 from the match and a series of other events to help the charity continue their incredible work across Scotland.”

Valerie Simpson who founded the charity with her husband Bill after their son recovered from leukaemia, said: “Nobody ever thinks their child is going to get cancer or leukaemia and you cannot prepare for the overwhelming emotions that come with the news when you are told.

“We rely on the support of people such as Scott, Duncan and the rest of the Energy Assets family to ensure that we can be there for parents when their world is turned upside down so they do not have to go through such a testing time alone.”
