Community Comes Together During Care Home Open Day
Greenhithe care home Haslington Lodge welcomed members of the community with open arms during Care Home Open Day.
On the guest list were pupils from Craylands Primary School, Councillor Anita Barham, from Dartford Borough Council, and Rev Mark Hurley, priest in charge at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Swanscombe, who gathered in recognition of the national event’s drive to foster friendship, connections, and the celebration of older and vulnerable people.
During the day the school pupils took part in a craft activity session with residents before taking afternoon tea where everyone was treated to a delicious selection of cakes and refreshing drinks.
Haslington Lodge manager, Frances Maynard says: “Our doors are always open but it was nice to make a special effort to mark Care Open Day by inviting friends, family, and members of the local community. The highlight was definitely the afternoon tea which some of the pupils served to our less mobile residents. Such a lovely gesture and one that put a smile on many faces.”
