Energy Assets powers meter installation expertise at new training centre
Energy Assets has unveiled a state-of-the-art training centre at Darwen, Lancashire, to provide its 60-strong team of meter engineers with one of the energy industry’s most advanced learning environments.
The investment in the new centre provides engineers with access to every type of physical meter configuration they are likely to encounter in industrial and commercial buildings, along with a ‘classroom’ space featuring interactive touchscreen technology with self-guided ‘drag and drop’ capability.
“Our directly-employed team of field engineers has expanded significantly in recent years in line with our success in partnering with energy suppliers on meter installation and exchange programmes,” said Garry Ashworth, Training Manager at Energy Assets. “This is the perfect moment to bring all our available training resources into one dedicated space.”
The centre will be used on rotation by all Energy Assets’ engineers, whether they are upskilling from AMR installer to a meter engineer or receiving periodic skills and process training linked to the latest technical standards.
“Our training facilities are in the process of being approved by the National Skills Academy for Power and accredited by the Energy & Utility Skills Register, underlining the ‘gold standard’ level of training that we offer our engineers for all meter installations, including advanced smart meters (SMETS2),” said Garry.
“The new centre is just part of the support provided at Energy Assets for our installers. In such a fast-moving industry, we pride ourselves on being at the leading edge of the knowledge curve, not only through this new physical facility, but also through the use of mandated e-learning sessions and monthly skills audits.”
