Sheffield engineer achieves highest professional status
A civil engineer from Sheffield has been elected as a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the oldest professional engineering association in the world.
Bogdan Tutoveanu works for Amey Consulting in the Sheffield Design Hub as a Technical Director for Structures.
Bogdan, whose father is a retired civil engineer, said: “Having been endorsed by three fellows of the institution was a great honour in itself; having been admitted as a Fellow, while obviously giving me a huge sense of professional satisfaction and achievement, it has also made me ponder on what it actually means to me.
“Becoming a fellow does articulate that a certain professional threshold was reached, but importantly also, I see it acting as a springing board in putting my passion for civil engineering to wider use outside my work place, through profession enhancing endeavours such as contributing to expert panels and forums, engaging more in industry wide debates and knowledge sharing.”
Bogdan was presented with his fellowship certificate by ICE President Andrew Wyllie at a special ceremony held at ICE’s headquarters in London on September 13.
ICE represents over 92,000 civil engineers and technicians across the world who design, build and maintain transport, water, energy, waste and flood infrastructure.
Penny Marshall, ICE Yorkshire and Humber Regional Director, said: “Respected internationally, ICE Fellowship is our highest grade of membership and a benchmark for those practising at the top level within the profession.
“Gaining ICE Fellowship is an exceptional achievement and I congratulate Bogdan on his success. We are proud to celebrate the contribution he has made to civil engineering.
