Heathcotes introduce new supported living properties in Leeds
Care provider, Heathcotes Group, is building a new provision of independent supported living properties in Leeds which is scheduled for completion early next year.
Heathcotes, which specialises in services for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, is developing eight spacious apartments at Green Lane in Beeston to accommodate individuals who are stepping down from a hospital or full-time residential care setting to develop their independent living skills. Each including their own lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area, the properties offer a self-contained environment that benefits from 24-hour staffing to provide support when needed. They form part of a multi-region development programme which is expanding Heathcotes’ independent supported living to complement the company’s established model of full-time residential care.
Heathcotes’ Director of Business Development, Natalia Lysiuk, said:
“Offering a full care pathway is a key aspect of the services which Heathcotes provide and the type of provision we have built in Beeston is designed to facilitate the next stage of the journey for service users who have progressed through that pathway. They provide an ideal environment for service users to further their independence and develop their daily living skills, but they are also suitable for individuals who require a single-person service due to their complexity and inability to live with others.
“When Heathcotes assess admissions to our full-time residential care services, an eventual move to our independent supported livings is often discussed as a potential long-term outcome. The properties are also available for service users who are stepping down from full-time care with other care providers.”
Tim Elliott, Heathcotes’ Supported Living Manager for the Yorkshire region, said:
“We have already established independent supported living at various other locations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, including properties in Bradford, Wakefield, Rotherham and Grimsby. They have enabled some hugely positive outcomes and we are very excited to be introducing more in Beeston with a view to assisting similar outcomes for service users and families in this area.”
With a head office in Chesterfield, Heathcotes Group has over 66 full-time residential care services nationwide and has been a trusted partner to over 50 local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups since 2004. The company provides a range of specialist services supporting individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, Personality Disorder, physical disabilities, Prader-Willi Syndrome, sensory impairments, speech difficulties and severe epilepsy.
