‘Generation Z’ freelancer app launches in UK with £450k funding
A social marketplace app designed for ‘Generation Z’ creatives has officially launched in the UK today.
Wishu, which aims to support freelance creatives interact with potential clients in a social-media like environment and build their careers, has launched its app on iOS.
The app, whose advisors include senior figures from the likes of Y-Combinator, TechStars, and MoMo, aims to capitalise on the growing gig economy.
Co-founded by entrepreneurial trio Lavena Xu, James Johnson and Hubert Trinkunas, the app has so far attracted a total investment of £450k.
Set to launch on Android in early 2020, Wishu already has a user base of over 6,000 creative freelancers.
Lavena Xu, Wishu co-founder and CEO, commented: “The upcoming generation of creatives are increasingly gravitating towards freelancing and a DIY model of building their careers.
“But they are not receiving the support they need - young creative talents are still spending too much time and energy on the day-to-day tasks of managing their work.
“Now there is a tool that does the heavy lifting for them in terms of finding work and getting paid.”
