£750m transformation of Shakespeare theatre site secures 50% forward sales
The transformation of a historic theatre site into a mixed-use destination has already secured 50 per cent forward sales ahead of completion.
The Stage in Shoreditch, a scheme from property developer Galliard Homes and joint venture partners Cain International, McCourt, Vanke and The Estate Office Shoreditch, will see the 2.3 acre site of William Shakespeare’s Curtain Theatre become a multi-million pound residential and commercial development.
Comprising 867,657 sq ft, the £750m development will include 400,000 sq ft of mixed-use space including cafes, restaurants and shops.
In addition, a 37-storey residential tower will provide 412 private sale apartments and penthouses, two office buildings providing over 257,000 sq ft of ‘blue chip’ commercial space and retail premises at ground level, with a leisure and performing arts pavilion.
The scheme, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022, has already sold half of the development to a combination of UK and overseas buyers.
David Galman, sales director at Galliard Homes, commented: “Galliard Homes are delighted to announce the sales success at The Stage, with 50 per cent of the new apartments forward sold.
“With the development’s high-quality specification, superb transport links, fantastic location and fascinating historical elements, it came as no surprise to the Galliard team that this development would be successful.
“We are extremely pleased with the construction progress and are excited to see the finished product and how it will benefit the local community, we anticipate The Stage to be a new hub for Shoreditch.”
