Electric bike firm launches crowdfunding campaign to meet demand for key worker transport
An electric bike specialist in the North East has launched a crowdfunding campaign to meet the growing demand for key worker transportation.
Ride Electric, which is based in Tynemouth, has launched the campaign in order to provide e-bikes for essential workers and NHS staff.
Founded in 2017 by David Anderson and Craig Goff-Cooper, Ride Electric aims to enable businesses to improve their environmental footprint through the use of e-bikes by their employees.
After five weeks of providing free e-bikes to key workers from its own stock, the firm has enlisted the help of crowdfunders to help bring new bikes into circulation.
Ride Electric managing director, Craig Goff-Cooper, commented: “The NHS and other key public services need our help more than ever.
“We have been, and continue to be, overwhelmed with requests form key workers who are no longer able to use public transport. Timetables have been reduced, with some services being cancelled, and the risk of infection from using buses, trains and the metro service is simply too high.
“Even key workers who are commuting by traditional bicycle are finding their commute difficult to handle due to the length and intensity of their working days.”
