Facing COVID-19: the CCTV firm using thermal tech to help businesses remotely detect fevers
A Yorkshire CCTV specialist has launched a range of temperature-screening thermal cameras in a bid to minimise business disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Centurion Fire & Security Ltd has unveiled its thermal technology surveillance equipment, which can measure up to 30 people’s temperatures within a second of them entering a building.
Founded by David Armstrong in 1974, the Huddersfield-headquartered firm employs 50 people nationally, specialising in CCTV for the likes of the Sellafield nuclear plant.
David Armstrong, managing director of Centurion, commented: “Whilst many businesses are closed during the pandemic, there are some industries which simply cannot close down or where staff can’t work from home. In these instances, it is vital that employees remain safe whilst at work.
“This technology is a preventative measure, helping to safeguard staff, which is of utmost importance.
“But it is also a long-term investment, because the technology will help to reduce the cost of staff absence.”
