London City Airport to resume domestic flights from this weekend
A London airport has announced that it will be reopening this weekend.
London City Airport will be resuming domestic flights from Sunday (June 21) after being shut for nearly three months during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The airport said that flights to North Wast England and Scotland would start on July 6 and that routes to Ireland are expected to resume later in the month.
As of yet, it is undecided what date international flights will be resuming.
There will be increased measures put in place to encourage social distancing and keep staff and passengers safe.
London City Airport CEO, Robert Sinclair, commented: “It is my hope that air bridges can be agreed quickly with low-risk European neighbours.
“This news would be a shot in the arm for the industry as well as for the wider UK economy.”
