London bank creates jobs with opening of first Yorkshire branch
A community bank has announced that it is creating 25 jobs with the opening of its first Yorkshire store.
Metro Bank, headquartered in London, is opening its 77th store in the UK in Sheffield city centre - its first in the county.
The store is part of the company’s plans to open 15 new locations across the north in the coming years.
Around 25 jobs have been created in the bank, which will have more than two thousand safe deposit boxes, as well as local business managers to help SMEs in the area.
Ian Walters, managing director of distribution at Metro Bank, commented: “We are thrilled to be bringing great service and convenience to the people and businesses of Sheffield as we open our first store in Yorkshire.
“We’re sorry the store has opened a little later than first planned, but we’re pleased to be opening the doors safely.
“As a community bank, we are committed to supporting local causes and delivering more than just banking, as seen by the fantastic effort the team has put in to complete its ‘Tour de South Yorkshire’ challenge for charity.”
