Simon Bailes Peugeot provides a complimentary vehicle to pharmacy as demand for home deliveries triples

Simon Bailes Peugeot was able to support a Northallerton pharmacy by supplying a complimentary vehicle to help it meet a huge rise in demand for the home delivery of prescriptions.

Day Lewis Pharmacy gratefully accepted the offer of the demonstrator car after seeing the number of delivery requests triple since March.

Despite having its own vehicles, the arrival of the Peugeot 2008 SUV within a week of the start of lockdown, allowed the pharmacy to ensure the elderly, vulnerable or those classed as shielding were quickly able to receive their medicines and prescriptions.

Simon Bailes Peugeot made the vehicles available free-of-charge to local pharmacies after it temporarily closed its showrooms in Northallerton Stockton and Guisborough – leaving its demonstrator fleet standing idle.

The government have since revised its guidelines and from June 1 the showrooms reopened to the public, with a range of safety measures in place.

Pharmacist Susan Cooper said: “On behalf of my team, our customers and the wider team at the pharmacy, we would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Simon for his kindness and support during these difficult times.

“The volume of deliveries and the number of patients needing to be protected has never been greater, so having the extra vehicle allowed us to keep pace with the huge demand for medication deliveries to our elderly and high-risk patients.

“The number of requests for home deliveries tripled following lockdown and we simply could not have kept pace without this thoughtful and practical offer of assistance.”

Simon Bailes said: “These are challenging times for everybody, and we are delighted our gesture has provided practical help to the Day Lewis Pharmacy, allowing them to continue providing this vital service to the community.”
