University Centre Leeds scores highly in national survey

University Centre Leeds (UC Leeds) has risen to the top quartile of HE institutions in West Yorkshire in the 2020 National Student Survey (NSS) - with a strong performance in academic support.

The University Centre scored an impressive 88.1% for overall satisfaction – 5.7% above the sector average of 82.6% and with high scores in almost all areas of this year’s survey.

These results were achieved with an impressive response rate of 75% (6% higher than the sector average of 69%), making the results representative.

Janet Faulkner, Dean of University Centre Leeds, said: “This year’s results demonstrate the quality of the student experience at UC Leeds. We are particularly pleased to receive such excellent results together with being above the sector benchmark for teaching quality, academic support, assessment and feedback and student voice.

“At UCLeeds we value the views of our students and continuously act on their feedback. Students are at the heart of everything we do and so this is a fantastic endorsement.

“Though students have had to adapt to a new way of studying this year, the university has integrated effective online teaching support and resources to ensure that they get the best out of their courses. At the start of lockdown, the tutors reacted very quickly and put in place innovative online delivery strategies to ensure a high quality student experience.’’

The NSS is a high profile annual survey of nearly half a million students across the UK. This year’s survey was held during a time when universities were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
