Sheffield premises selected as new HQ for British Stainless Steel Association
British Stainless Steel Association will relocate to flexible working space in Sheffield city centre to cater for its team’s changing needs following the UK lockdown.
It has said the facilities at UKSE’s Innovation Centre will suit its ‘evolving needs’, with its former premises at the Blades Enterprise Centre ‘no longer suitable’ for an increased demand for flexibility.
The premises at 217 Portobello, nearby to the city’s train station and main business district, offer meeting and seminar rooms which BSSA will used to deliver membership meetings, as well as education and training sessions.
BSSA promotes and develops the use of Stainless Steels across the UK and Ireland in many industries including manufacturing and construction, as well as providing technical advice, training, and education in all aspects of using stainless steels.
Rob Cooper, managing director from BSSA, commented: “This is an exciting time for us at BSSA and the take up of our new headquarters reflects our desire to be flexible and adaptive in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We think it’s really important to have a base for our staff and members to be able to visit and use when needed as well as having the flexibility to be able to work from home when more appropriate.
“The team at UKSE have been incredibly flexible in providing us with an opportunity which suited our needs. We can now focus the next 12 months in strengthening our service offering to our members.”
Alan Stanley, regional executive at UKSE added: “As Sheffield is renowned for its engineering and manufacturing excellence its fantastic to see BSSA commit to the Innovation Centre and add to the overall strong community we have at the site.
“Like many others, we’ve taken appropriate steps to reduce the risk of virus transmission, whilst allowing tenants and their staff to continue to access the centre on a 24/7 basis.”
