Croydon community hub nears completion with topping out ceremony
A new purpose-built community facility is Croydon is close to reaching completion with a major milestone.
The Timebridge Community Centre in New Addington in Fieldway has reached the final stages of construction.
The new two-storey purpose built centre combines the Fieldway Family Centre, the Timebridge Community Centre and includes a food bank, the Learning Tree nursery and a youth centre.
In addition the site comprises flexible spaces to hire including a multi-purpose hall, two studio spaces, conference and meeting rooms and social space.
Gavin Ward, project manager at The McAvoy Group, commented: “By incorporating the most advanced offsite construction techniques, we have been able to turn this project around in under a year, despite Covid-related delays.
“It’s a high-quality, intuitively designed building and I’ve no doubt it will continue adding huge value to the local community for many years to come.”
Cllr Simon Hall, Cabinet member for finance and resources and councillor for New Addington North Ward added: “The new centre will provide much needed enhanced facilities enabling local groups to continue with their excellent work in serving the local community.”
