‘Challenger’ law firm makes international debut with first overseas office
A London-headquartered ‘challenger’ law firm has announced the launch of its first international office.
Law specialist gunnercooke has opened a new base in Berlin as part of its ongoing expansion.
Since the firm’s launch in 2010, it has opened four UK offices and recruited over 270 lawyers with a range of specialities in corporate and commercial law.
Co-founder of gunnercooke, Darryl Cooke, explained: “Ten years ago we set out to create a new law firm giving lawyers control over their lives. I’m proud to say we have achieved just that.
“Now we’ve proven that the model is successful, it’s time to take gunnercooke international. And this is just the start of our overseas expansion. Our vision is to be able to open one or two offices per year as we set out on our international journey.”
The company has appointed DFW executive partner Wolfgang Richter to head up the new office and grow gunnercooke’s German presence.
Sarah Goulbourne, gunnercooke co-founder, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Wolfgang Richter to our firm. Wolfgang is one of Germany’s leading corporate lawyers and the perfect candidate to set up our German office; the first of many overseas offices for gunnercooke.”
Wolfgang added: “I’m pleased to announce my move to gunnercooke. The firm has developed a proven model in the UK, and I look forward to bringing the unique structure and fantastic culture to the German legal sector.”
