Parcel services firm delivers expansion plans with new Dartford warehouse
A parcel service operator has announced that it has agreed to lease a Dartford logistics warehouse.
DPD, which is headquartered in France, has agreed a ten year lease at Orbital 48, a newly built distribution unit in Dartford.
The unit, which is 47,888 sq ft, is owned by M&G Real Estate and has direct access to Central London.
The lease comes as DPD sees continued growth in e-commerce and rising expectations from consumers for speedy deliveries.
Tim Harding, associate director in Colliers International’s Industrial & Logistics team, commented: “This deal demonstrates the continued robust demand for prime last-mile logistics space across the South East and UK as a whole.
“Dartford is not only a key logistics location for the South East and London areas but also has access to a pool of specialist labour, with recent research showing over 35 per cent of jobs in the area being distribution-related.
“The demand we are seeing for greater adoption of online commerce is expected to remain strong, and as consumer expectation for speedy deliveries continues to rise, it has never been more important for last-mile logistics operators, like DPD, to secure prime locations where they can quickly and efficiently deliver to the end consumer.”
Colliers International acted for M&G Real Estate on the letting, alongside joint agent Glenny.
