Go North East’s dancing bus drivers are back

Earlier in the year at the height of the pandemic, team members from Go North East’s Consett depot created a hilarious video to the tunes of Queen’s ‘I Want to Break Free’ and Madness’ ‘House of Fun’, whilst delivering an important message about staying at home.

The team also managed to raise £1,500 for Treetops Children’s Ward at University Hospital of North Durham and now they’ve returned to spread some Christmas cheer.

The festive video was filmed across a number of Go North East’s depots in recent weeks.

This is part of a whole host of activities that the team has got behind this Christmas, including Go North East’s open-top Santa bus tour which is running across the region right up until Christmas Eve.

The company has also unveiled its Christmas Angel, which will be running on the company’s popular Angel 21 route, featuring festive vinyls and LED lighting, decorations and Christmas songs in between next-stop audio-visual announcements.

Martijn Gilbert, managing director at Go North East, said: “Our team are doing a number of things to help try and lift the spirits of people across the region.

“This video is part of their latest efforts to spread some Christmas cheer and we’re it helps put smiles back on people’s faces.

“We are immensely proud of their initiative and talents, not just through their hard work in the important day job in connecting the communities we serve, but also by going above and beyond with activities like this.

“As part of our other initiatives, it’s been heart-warming to see so many children across the region stood outside their homes waving at Santa as our open-top tour bus passes by.”
