TV production company secures £2.5m investment to develop new programmes

A London-based TV production company has secured multi-million pound funding to develop its offering.

Tin Roof Media has secured a £2.5m refinance and working capital package from SME lender ThinCats.

Operating in the TV programming sector under the brands Blink Films and Outline Productions, Tin Roof Media works with broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Disney+, Discovery Channel and National Geographic.

The company, which has produced titles such as Meet the Chimps, Treasures Decoded, Remarkable Places to Eat, Sarah Beeny’s Renovate Don’t Relocate, Tom Kerridge Barbeques and Mummy Mysteries, plans to use the funding to further develop its offering in response to growing demand in the market.

Rod Henwood from Tin Roof Media commented: “Notwithstanding the challenges of 2020, we are proud to have traded profitably and are very much looking forward to returning to normal levels of business in 2021.

“We have a fantastic order book and development slate which gives us great confidence going forward. Thanks to ThinCats and Rockpool for supporting us throughout.”

Stuart Thompson, director of regional business development of ThinCats, commented: “Tin Roof Media have an impressive back catalogue of globally recognised titles, and we are very pleased to be able to support them and enable them to look towards an extremely exciting future with a whole host of programming possibilities.

“It has been a pleasure to work with both companies, and we look forward to seeing the new productions in the future.”

The business is backed by private equity firm Rockpool. Will Beckett from Rockpool Investments added: “Tin Roof Media have performed well amidst the challenging conditions of 2020 and have continued to deliver successful titles adding to the already impressive back catalogue.

“We were extremely pleased with how ThinCats approached the refinancing and look forward to working with them as Tin Roof Media continues to grow.”
