UK hydrogen tech firm predicts "two new starters per week" with renewed recruitment push

A UK power technology company has announced that it is aiming to create an average of two new jobs every week across the rest of the year.

AFC Energy, which is a provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, said that it is continuing with its ongoing recruitment push, and predicts to see an average of two new starters per week.

The company is creating roles for new product engineers, manufacturing and field technicians, fuel cell and polymer scientists, and commercial staff, but has not confirmed how many total jobs are set to be created.

This comes as AFC Energy reports that its cash balance has risen by 2,100 per cent over the past six months, jumping from £2.8m to 61.6m.

Across the period, the company has secured three new partners - ABB, Altaaqa Alternative Solutions and Mace - and has increased its revenue from zero to £150k.

“Our oversubscribed fundraising puts the business in a robust financial position, allowing us to increase investment during the remainder of the year in the people, technology and product development needed to grow our order book and commensurate revenue.

“With carbon emissions now returning to pre-pandemic levels and the UN stating that 2021 is a ‘make or break year’ in the fight against climate change, the need and demand for our emissions-free energy solutions has never been greater.

“In the year of COP 26, our growth plans are central to the ongoing decarbonisation of key global industries.”
