Part Exchanging To A Dream Home During The Pandemic

A Part Exchange house move which began just before the pandemic couldn’t have worked out any better for a family relocating to CALA Homes’ Comice Meadows development in Pirton, north-west of Hitchin in Hertfordshire.

Reserving their plot at the end of February 2020, the Turland family were originally going to sell privately, but once they discussed Part Exchange with CALA, it became the most suitable option available.

Spending 16 years in Codicote, Amy, aged 45, along with husband Richard and daughters Lexi (13) and Myla (11), decided to move 11 miles away to Comice Meadows. The development and area were better situated for secondary schools, and for the family to embark on a new lease of village life.

Amy, a merchandiser for Hotel Chocolat, commented: “We had previously looked at CALA’s Lytton Heights development a year earlier and were very impressed. So, we were delighted to discover Comice Meadows as that was a better fit for us as a family looking to upsize.”

Thrilled by the size of the homes, the Turlands fell in love with the layout and high standard finish of the homes at Comice Meadows. Reserving their plot just before Covid-19 hit meant that Part Exchange was not impacted by the sale of their home, or a buyer pulling out.

Viewing the show home gave the family a real ‘wow’ factor feeling of what it would be like to live at the development. Due to the timing of when they reserved their home, they were given the option to add their own touches to the house, which made them feel really involved in the process.

Amy continued: “We didn’t realise how easy CALA’s Part Exchange scheme would be. The service has been second to none and we haven’t missed our old home or area, which tells me how happy and settled we are here in Pirton.”

Excited to be able to freely explore the area once lockdown lifts in June, the Turlands are looking forward to being involved in the community, and enjoying what Pirton has to offer.

Amy added: “We’re still close enough to see old friends, but it does feel like we’ve relocated to a completely new part of the country. The development seems a very friendly place, as do the locals in the village. It feels like a lovely community and we can’t wait to get together properly with our new neighbours as soon as we are able.”

With CALA’s Part Exchange service, there is no need to go through the process of selling an existing property on the open market. The housebuilder acts as a cash buyer, providing peace of mind that a purchaser’s sale will complete ready for them to move into their new CALA home. With no estate agents’ fees incurred, the service can also save thousands of pounds on the overall cost of the move.
