Local homebuilder welcomes St Luke’s CE Primary School to Bradford development

Local homebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, welcomed students from St Luke’s Church of England Primary School to The Bridleways as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which it builds.

30 students from Year 6 were invited to take an exciting tour around the development to get a behind the scenes look into housebuilding and to learn about the importance of site safety. The homebuilder also donated £550 to the primary school to cover the cost to hire a coach for a summer trip to Scarborough.

The children first enjoyed a welcome talk from Barratt Homes’ Contracts Manager, Jo Hopkins, before an exciting tour throughout the site to learn about the stages of construction which included a visit from a digger and the importance of site safety before breaking for the summer holidays. The children also took part in an engaging Q&A where they had the opportunity to ask the team questions about the process of housebuilding and construction.

Jo Hopkins, Contracts Manager, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support the communities in which we build, so it was wonderful to have the Year 6 class from St Luke’s visit The Bridleways. The children were really excited to visit the development to learn more about the housebuilding industry, the importance of site safety and to see a digger! We hope the class enjoyed their visit with us.”

Lauren Milner, Year 6 Teacher, St Luke’s CE Primary School, commented: “We are really thankful for Barratt Homes Yorkshire West kind donation to support our trip to the coast and it is brilliant that the team offered their time to show our Year 6 pupils around the development that is right next door. Having these educational opportunities outside of the classroom are so valuable to our pupils.”
