Sunderland construction firm's £30m orders inspire expansion
Wearside’s Brims Construction Ltd seeks to expand its workforce of 90 and potentially open a southern office to “capitalise on” opportunities following £30m of orders.
Brims has 13 live projects ongoing from Sunderland to the North of Northumberland.
In Wooler, Brims, is building a £10.5m Visitor Centre and Whisky distillery on behalf of Ad Gefrin LLP.
In Sunderland, Brims is constructing an auditorium which forms part of the city’s Music, Arts and Cultural Quarter.
The £11m MACQ Theatre, a design and build project, will reportedly accommodate audiences of up to 750 people and is due to be complete later this year.
Brims has also announced a search for new site managers and trades for future projects which are reportedly secured and due to start in the coming months.
Richard Wood, director of Brims, said: “While we have not yet finalised our accounts for the 2020-21 financial year, we have certainly got off to a sound start in 2021-22.
“The Government’s levelling up agenda coupled with the ongoing investment in areas like the Tees Valley, means we have contributed substantially to our current position. Then there’s the housing market, which has just exploded and does not seem to show any signs of levelling off – so all in all, we are very confident about the future.”
Regarding a potential branch in Tees Valley, Mr Wood also said: “We may consider establishing a second office further south to capitalise on some opportunities coming forward into the Teeside and Yorkshire areas.”
