North East housebuilder begins work on 94 homes on Sunderland site

A North East housing company has started work on 94 homes as part of the second phase of construction on a 17-acre Sunderland housing development.

The second phase of the Wellington Park development located on Riverside Road, northeast of the city centre, received planning approval from Sunderland City Council in January 2021. Avant Homes North East is scheduled to deliver the new dwellings.

The first phase of 24 homes at the development was delivered by private housebuilder Berkeley DeVeer which acquired Avant Homes in April this year.

The approximate build length of the second phase expected to take around two years.

Wellington Park will be the second development currently under construction in Sunderland for Avant Homes. The developer is also building 82 new homes at Lowry Park three miles away in Seaburn.
