Code Computerlove creates new agri-tech app for Bayer Crop Science

World leading innovators in crop protection Bayer Crop Science is providing the agriculture sector with greater access to valuable data, information and content with the launch of its new FieldMate app.

By moving its popular first-generation app onto a new platform the benefits to users are immediate, and will enable future innovation for tech-enabled crop protection support.

A vital resource for growers to diagnose problems out in the field, from identifying pests and potentially damaging weeds to diseased crops, FieldMate is the latest digital tool in Bayer’s smart-farming approach. The new app already contains the data equivalent to three large directories and reference books - supporting growers, agronomists and students in faster diagnosis.

Created in partnership with long-term digital partner Code Computerlove, Bayer has put user insight and farmer feedback at the heart of its app development, with improved analytics now accessible to drive further enhancements.

Richard Murdoch, Lead Digital Consultant at Code Computerlove, said: “Like with many other sectors, real-time information is vital in the agriculture sector and tech plays a fundamental role in ensuring end users have access to the most up to date knowledge bases and resources.

“FieldMate has been developed to ensure the teams at Bayer can manage content updates more efficiently, with relevant alerts now also available through the app.

“Alongside creating a more scalable and function-rich solution, we’ve improved the overall user experience and design interface based on our co-creation approach involving the farming community.

“New features have been added to the app, but this is just the start. By using an analytics-led platform we will be able to see exactly what features are adding the most value and base future development and product innovation on user insight.”

Rachael Roberts, Marketing and Communications Manager at Bayer Crop Science said: “Our investment in agri-tech goes hand in hand with our continued commitment to product development, to meet the needs of our customers.

“Digital solutions are essential for providing fast and easy access to vital information and for increasing our own internal efficiencies and effectiveness. The new app will enable us to update content quickly and ensure it’s in line with the fast-changing regulations and legislation in our industry.

“By involving our audiences throughout the development process we hope to have created a solution that will continue to support their needs and continue to keep our tech solutions ahead.”
