Hundreds of new homes to be created in Oxfordshire

An Oxfordshire primary school is to be expanded as part of a development to create 400 new homes.

The site in Wantage, Grove, received planning permission from Oxfordshire County Council earlier this year and has been promoted jointly between two of the largest strategic land developers in the UK, L&Q Estates, and Gleeson Land.

The 63.31 acre site was sold by AJW Land & Development and Carter Jonas, assisted by L&Q Estates and Gleeson Land, to David Wilson Homes Southern (part of Barratt Developments PLC).

Ian Hardwick, managing director of L&Q Estates, said there was a need for more school places to meet the needs of the community.

He said: “We are delighted to have been part of the promotion and disposal of this site to David Wilson Homes to create a further 400 homes.

“This will not only provide much-needed housing but will also secure the extension to Grove Church of England Primary School to enable more children living in the area to go to their nearest school.

“Our ethos is focused on creating communities and adding further capacity to this primary school will help to give the community the facilities they need to grow and enjoy living in the area.”

L&Q Estates has also sold a parcel of land in Wavendon, Milton Keynes. Twenty-three one and two-bedroom apartments are to be created by Lodge Park Homes in Stockwell Lane.

James Mooney, group sales director at L&Q Estates, said: “This is the first time we have worked with Lodge Park Homes and highlights that we deal with housebuilders ranging from SMEs to major plcs throughout the UK.

“I am sure the apartments on the Laine Rise development will be a huge success in an area of Milton Keynes which is extremely popular.”
