Local homebuilder champions women in construction
Local homebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, is encouraging more women to consider careers in construction as part of its dedication to diversifying the industry.
Championing women in construction is Angel Matthews, who joined Barratt Developments Yorkshire West as an apprentice carpenter and joiner at its Saxon Dene development in Silsden.
Similarly, Senior Strategic Land Manager, Jennifer Winyard has been a Member of the Yorkshire and North East Committee for Women in Property for 15 years and has led it’s mentoring programme for four years. Women in Property is an organisation dedicated to helping create opportunities and inspire change for women working in the property and construction industry through networking and mentoring.
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire West commented: “We’re really proud to be championing women in construction roles across our developments in West and South Yorkshire.
“Barratt Developments is dedicated to working with the very best talent in order to deliver much-needed homes and communities within West and South Yorkshire. We hope that our aim to increase awareness of the opportunities available within the industry will encourage more women to consider the numerous career paths that are available in property and construction.”
