Icon Outlet to re-open in full as Skopes joins the line-up and sales set new benchmarks

On Friday, 29 April, Icon Outlet at The O2, London’s premium outlet shopping destination, is to re-open the last remaining stores, just 10 weeks after the extensive damage to the roof of The O2 which caused by Storm Eunice in February. Joining the line-up at the same time is Skopes, the independent menswear tailoring brand.

The announcement coincides with strong performance from Icon Outlet’s retailers following the destination’s partial re-opening on 18 March. For March overall, like-for-like sales at Icon Outlet were 64% ahead of the same period in 2019, while average transaction values rose 3%. The Entertainment District, which features over 30 bars and restaurants, also experienced a successful March, with total net sales up by 51% compared to March 2019.

Skopes is making its Icon Outlet debut with a 2,110 sq ft store on the upper level in close proximity to The Cosmetics Company, Hobbs, The Body Shop and ProCook . The brand will complement the re-opening of other leading retailers at the destination, such as Nike, Adidas, Next, Levi’s and Lids, as well as popular leisure concepts, Selfie Factory and Tikky Town.

Janine Constantin-Russell, Managing Director of Icon Outlet and The O2’s Entertainment District, said: “We are so pleased to see Icon Outlet fully open. Despite the temporary closures, we have experienced an incredibly strong March, which is testament to the destination’s appeal to consumers and the commitment of our retailers, restaurants and leisure operators.”

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to experience our full array of high-calibre brands once again, including our newest addition, Skopes. As we make our final preparations, we are very grateful for the continued support of staff, suppliers, stakeholders and visitors. The past few months have highlighted the importance of having a strong and dynamic team at our destination; one that I’m extremely proud to be a part of.”

Michael Barber, Head of Retail at Skopes, added: “Icon Outlet is a key location for us and we are thrilled to be launching in such an iconic destination. We have witnessed Icon Outlet and The O2’s strong bounceback and following their impressive sales performance, we’re looking forward to welcoming new visitors to enjoy Skope’s quality tailored menswear. From sustainable suits and wedding attire, to black-tie dinners, we offer something for every man on every occasion.”

2022 is set to be big year for The O2. As well as celebrating the venues 15th birthday in June, the arena will host over 200 events from some of the best UK and international artists including Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Billie Eilish, Queen + Adam Lambert and more.
