Award-winning spa academy in Warwickshire searching for its next 'spa stars'

An award-winning spa academy in Warwickshire is searching for its next ‘spa stars’ after re-opening applications for its innovative apprenticeship programme.

The Elan Spa Academy gives talented and aspiring beauty therapists the chance to earn as they learn while completing a bespoke Level 3 Beauty/Wellbeing and Holistic Therapy qualification.

The programme was the first of its kind in the hotel sector when it was launched in 2018 by Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington, and went on to win the best Emerging Talent Initiative at the prestigious Caterer People Awards just a year later.

Applications for its 2022 cohort of Spa Apprentices are now open, with all graduates guaranteed full-time employment after completing their 20-month programme.

Lisa Redding, Head of HR at The Eden Hotel Collection, owners of Mallory Court Hotel and Spa, said: “I’m thrilled we are once again able to open up applications as we search for our next academy stars.

“When we developed the Elan Spa Academy, we saw it as a fantastic chance to expand our ‘grow with Eden’ ethos, nurturing our own talent and providing opportunities for aspiring therapists to start their careers within a luxury spa environment given our 5 Bubble Spa rating.

“It really can be for anyone, be it a college student who has just gained their Level 2 and wants to gain practical experience whilst they continue their studies or it can be a mature apprentice who is looking for a change of career.

“We’ve had both down the years and some terrific success stories, it really is testament to the hard-work of our fabulous apprentices that our academy is now one of the best in the business.”

The Elan Spa Academy has been developed by The Eden Hotel Collection – a luxury collection of boutique hotels in the UK – in partnership with the International Beauty and Holistic Academy, and is sponsored by ESPA.

Success stories in the past have included Hannah Roberts – a first-year cohort who is now a Spa trainer responsible for training all Spa Therapists – alongside fellow first-year Simrun Sahota who is now Spa Supervisor and training to become Assistant Spa Manager.

Apprentices join on a full-time basis and will attend three days of training per month off site at the International Beauty and Holistic Academy as well as visiting spas across the collection, honing their skills with ESPA training to deliver facials, massages, body wraps and advanced treatments, all supported by ‘Eden Masterclasses’ with ESPA.
