DB3 launches Net Zero consultancy
Award-winning Architecture and Building Services Engineering specialists, DB3 Group, have set up DB3 Net Zero to help the construction industry achieve the UK’s 2050 net zero targets.
DB3 Net Zero draws on the experience of in-house mechanical & electrical engineers, architects, energy assessors, Passivhaus designers and sustainability experts.
Between them they have spent many years delivering low carbon schemes including residential passive houses, offices and schools as well as energy efficient projects in the sports and leisure, industrial and manufacturing, retail, conservation and heritage sectors.
According to The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) Whole Life Carbon Roadmap, the construction industry currently contributes to 25 per cent of the UK’s carbon emissions and 40 per cent of the UK’s carbon footprint. DB3 aims to be a force for change in decarbonising this sector through their Net Zero consultancy services.
DB3’s suite of Net Zero consultancy services is broken down into six categories which cover topics around whole life.
These catagories include; operational and embodied carbon; the efficiency of buildings and how to make improvements; the wellbeing of the building users and social impact on surrounding communities; performance of buildings in use; compliance with building regulations; and Passivhaus (also referred to as Passive House) design and training.
Nathan McNamara, managing director of DB3 Group commented: “We all have an obligation to change our behaviours and adapt to new ways of thinking. As designers we are in a position to make a real and measurable change and achieving Net Zero Carbon targets must be our highest priority. The climate crisis has never been more evident than during the recent heatwave.”.
To mark the launch, on the 21st of July, five members of the DB3 Net Zero team volunteered for the Green Recovery Challenge woodland management day with Manchester City of Trees at Park Wood, Wythenshawe.
Headquartered in Leeds, DB3 Group is an AJ 100 company with over 100 staff who work from studios across the UK including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and Aberystwyth.
