Family-owned Teesside business celebrates 50 years and “huge growth”
Teesside based Caswells Group is celebrating half a century in business, significant growth and its recent deal to be the sole supplier of Pal Hygiene disposable food hygiene wear in the UK.
Originally founded by Derick Caswell in 1972, Caswells Group has spent 50 years supplying businesses across the country with PPE, janitorial, safety and hose/hydraulic supplies, including household names such as Nestle.
Achieving 8 per cent growth in the financial year 2021-22, the business has consistently invested in its growth, now employing 70 people across Teesside with plans to grow the team to 90 in the next 12 months.
This follows recent investment into its signage and workwear department of over £1m, with additional work being carried out on site to facilitate the company’s growing team.

Commercial director, Paul Murphy commented: “The company has gone from strength to strength over the years, progressing from a small local business to one operating nationally, and we’re proud Teessiders. The business still works with the majority of its original customers, as well as welcoming many new ones from across the UK & Ireland.
“We generally carry around £3.6m worth of stock, which enables us to offer next day delivery on many orders, and have built solutions such as bespoke online portals for our customers to make ordering frequent items like branded workwear as seamless as possible.
“I’ve been with the business for 30 years and it’s been a really exciting journey – I started out washing vans in school holidays and now I’m a director, the business looks after its people and offers great career development opportunities.”
Caswells supports a range of local charities including Butterwick Hospice and The Moses Project, and made numerous donations of PPE and sanitising products to causes and local hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
