Understanding the challenges in creating formulations for personal care

This September CPI will host a 2-day workshop (fully-funded for qualifying SMEs) designed to help innovative companies overcome the challenges in creating new or improved formulations for the personal care sector.

The personal care sector is a diverse and increasingly growing sector with products ranging from; personal hygiene (toiletries, oral care, liquid soaps), cosmetics (make-up, moisturisers), skincare (sun preparations, body creams and lotions) to wellbeing (nutraceuticals).

This is a great opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how to successfully create new formulations in personal care, and their legislative requirements.

The workshop will include a series of presentations, group discussions and lab tours and cover topics such as; sourcing and choosing the right ingredients, formulation, product stability and shelf life, production process, packaging, life cycle analysis, legislation and scale up. All materials, refreshments and lunch will be included on both days.

The workshop, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) PROSPECT programme, will be delivered by CPI’s technical experts, from our facility in Sedgefield.

Who should attend?

  • Companies looking to develop new or improve existing formulations
  • Companies wishing to optimise their current production process
  • Companies who have a formulation challenge
  • Who is eligible?
  • Micro and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) located within the North-East LEP area (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham)
  • Companies employing less than 250 people or with less than £50m in the bank

What you can expect to take away from the day:

  • Greater understanding of how to source and prepare formulated products
  • Folder containing all materials
  • An opportunity for a one-two-one with our Technical Expertise
  • Potential follow on support to help develop your product

Furthermore this autumn the ERDF PROSPECT team will be hosting a number of coffee mornings across the region. This is a great opportunity for you to come along, enjoy a coffee and meet member of the Business Development team. You will also learn about current funding opportunities, and hopefully gain some valuable support through the ERDF PROSPECT programme.
